More Shabby Decor

Today I have been piddling around in my Shabby Chic Room.
I have taken the curtains from my bedroom and hung them in here.  I think they look much better in this room.  I can't wait until I receive my new bedroom curtains though.

I added a lace tablecloth to my pink ice cream parlor table, and it looks much softer and shabby now.

I made this shabby garland from a pair of pillowcases I purchased for 99 cents at a thrift store.

I am seriously thinking about painting the brick walls white.
What do you think?  Please comment.

The way the sunlight shines through these curtains fills the whole room with a softer light.

Potpourri, rose essential oil, and a string of lights.

Mom found me this kitty at a yard sale.

A new use for a curtain panel. You will notice one under the lace tablecloth on my pink table as well.

A great place to read, pray, and snooze!

I can''t wait to find more "shabby" things for my room and to maybe paint the brick white!

  1. This room is SO beautiful...and warm...and inviting! YES, it would make a wonderful place to pray. I think painting the bricks would definitely make it more shabby chic looking...I was also thinking how neat it would be to paint in between the bricks pink. This would be tedious and take forever and a day, but can you imagine the overall effect it would have?? I can just picture it. Thanks for sharing the pictures of this lovely room! Much love and many blessings to you. :)

    1. I'm sure you could do it, Ellen. I get a lot of ideas online, and I keep my room in mind when I am shopping at thrift stores. I love finding little things to add. I will paint just as soon as I muster up the energy.

  6. Wow, that pillowcase border is amazing! I can't believe you made it out of pillowcases. Yes, I would totally paint the bricks as the red is too stark and jarring against the white. But they you will have A LOT of white, which some people love but you might not like.

You could always paint the bricks a very soft light blue. But I think white would be fine. Thanks for linking up to Making Your Home Sing Monday linky party!

  8. I wouldn't paint the bricks white but that is because in college we chipped plaster off the bricks to expose them. It was a tedious job. The exposed bricks were in style. So funny how fads go around in a circle. Pinterest makes everything white and makes us think everything needs to be white. Your room is beautiful but I would keep the bricks and the contrast and color. Either way, red bricks or painted white bricks - the room is gorgeous!!

Just keep in mind that when you paint the bricks they will take more paint to cover them. They will suck up the paint. I painted the concrete wall in my laundry room and it took a LOT of paint to cover the wall and the little holes in the cement.
