Tuesday Prayer Brunch and Evening Bible Study

Yesterday, Tuesday, was full of joy!
As usual, A friend and I started the day with a devotion, scripture, and prayer.
Our topic was...

Renewing Our Minds With God's Promises
The Lord's promises are pure, like silver refined in a furnace. purified seven times over. Psalm 12:6
How many times do we battle with our fears and imaginings.  We tend to count all our problems, but God wants us to focus on His promises instead.
Being only human, worrying comes natural.  So, how do we stop worrying?
When we open the Bible and begin to read God's word and His promises, something amazing happens.  He settles our anxious hearts, and we can then begin to worship instead of worry.
Our fears vanish and our hearts rest in the Lord.
Worry and worship simply can not exist together!

We can choose to worry or worship.

If only we would stop lamenting and look up, God is here.  Christ is risen.   The Spirit has been poured out from on high.~ A.W. Tozer

After our devotion, my grandmother came in.
I briefly told her about our devotion, and we all joined hands and prayed together.  Afterwards, we talked for a while and had a lovely time.

Later that evening, we had a family of good friends join us for a meal and Bible study.  I can't remember what all we talked about, but it was a wonderful time talking about the Lord. My husband mentioned what his morning devotion was about, and it was similar to our devotion that morning. We read several scriptures and one that stood out was
 2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

There was the word "Promises" again.

What all does God promise in His word?
I believe they are too numerous to count.

There are literally thousands of Bible promises waiting to be claimed in faith.
Here are just a precious few

Isaiah 30:21
And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

Matthew 11:28-29
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

Isaiah 40:29-31
He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Philippians 4:19
And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.

Romans 8:37-39
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Proverbs 1:33
But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

John 14:27
“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.

Romans 10:9
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

~Standing on the promises I cannot fall,
Listening every moment to the Spirit’s call
Resting in my Savior as my all in all,
Standing on the promises of God.~

  1. Do you remember the old hymn, "Standing on the Promises of God?" It sang in my heart while I was reading the promises here. Beautiful reminders of the promises that I've held on to time and time again. ~Pamela
