A Call To Fasting & Prayer

Mrs Cheryl over at Homespun Devotions has posted many prayer requests for
Max Brown
Makeya Brown
and
Connie Flanders
She just added a new prayer request for Lauren Hill.

I am asking Christian readers to please join in a day of prayer and fasting on October 22, 2014 for these precious people.
If you miss this week,
please join in fasting and prayer on October 29th.

Many times in the Bible we read how people and even whole nations were called to fast. Jesus didn't say "if" you fast but rather "when" you fast in Matthew 6:16. He also said...Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting Matthew 17:21.
We are not suppose to act like hypocrites with a sad countenance and appear unto men to be fasting or go around telling others that we are fasting, BUT it is okay to call together a fast and agree to fast together for a need. There is power within the realm of spiritual warfare when we fast! Also, praise is a weapon too. I wrote a post about how Jehoshaphat sent the worshipers out before the army. The Bible says that when they BEGAN singing and praising, the LORD set ambushes against the enemy. Needless to say, the enemy was defeated!
Lets send our praises and prayers to the Lord. He is mighty and able to set ambushes up against sickness, paralysis, and even cancer. Our God is a mountain mover! I hope many will decide to fast and pray for these precious people.
Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? Isaiah 58:6

Max(2) and Makeya(6) are SURVIVORS of terrible car wreck  that happened August 2, 2014.  The accident took the life of their brother, Quinton(5). Max and Makeya have been through so much during the past few months.  Cheryl has several updates on her blog.

Connie was hospitalized on September 15, 2014 with pancreatitis and triglycerides >7890. She was sedated and on a ventilator for over 30 days.  She is dealing with withdraw symptoms from the medication that kept her asleep for over a month.  She is fighting a couple of infections.  She will need physical therapy.  She will also need speech therapy until the ventilator is removed from her trachea. She came near to death and still has obstacles ahead, but thank God she's come this far!

 Lauren Hill
Oct. 1, 2014 was Lauren's 19th birthday.
49 days after her 18th birthday, an MRI revealed a brain tumor. The actual diagnosis is DIPG: Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma. This is not a mass, but a cancer with roots at the base of her brain stem that has growing tentacles weaving through her nerves. Her condition is inoperable.
The best hope doctors could offer was maybe two years to live.

  2. Thank you, my dear, precious friend, for taking these needs to heart and calling for a fast! I know with all my heart that our faithful GOD is able to do exceeding abundantly ABOVE all we can ask or even think, according to the power that worketh in US. WE have the ability to lay aside food and get under the burden and move God on His throne, when we obey Him and surrender to Him in this way. I am SO grateful to you for getting the word out here, and I hope many will join in and participate. It just blesses my soul to see the body of Christ come together like this and lay aside all barriers for the sake of a greater cause! Love you, dear friend.

  3. All we can ever do is trust and rely upon and focus on our Lord. sometimes things happen seriously with cars or other things, and sometimes our bodies begin to go around and about and head for heaven. Mine is filled with some unusual struggling issues...I ain't a young 'un ... and some of it makes me fearful and some of it makes me turn to the Lord and trust the consequences, no matter and whenever things will change. I used to be a fasting person. IF the Lord ever taps me to do it, I'll DO IT!!! Thanks for sharing so significantly.

    1. Just keep trusting and relying on God like you said. Yes, we all get fearful from time to time, and these bodies do get worn out, BUT praise God during your fearful times. Worry and worship can't happen at the same time, and praising the Lord fills us with such joy and peace. I agree, if you feel as if God has called you to fast, do it. However, Jesus did preach on fasting. Just be obedient to what you feel like the Lord is calling you to do. I pray that you will find comfort for the issues you are struggling with...and yes, lay all your burdens on the Lord and trust in Him no matter the consequences. He will NEVER leave you or forsake you.
Thanks for sharing your comment. Visit me often.
      God bless you.
