Update on Connie & Another Prayer Requests

Most of my regular readers know that I have written about Connie numerous times during her lengthy illness. I have included prayer requests and updates in several posts, including Link-Ups, since she was hospitalized in September.
Last Friday, 12/12/14, Connie endured a complicated surgery that lasted over 5 hours.
(Read surgery details below.)
For a few days last week, she was able to sit in a chair for a couple hours although she was still in a great deal of pain.
Unfortunately, early Sunday morning we received word from Mickey that, during the night, Connie almost died from a bleeding artery.
The surgeon said that if he had been ONE MINUTE later stopping the bleeding that she wouldn't have made it.  Although this is very discouraging and terrifying news, I can't help but to look at it optimistically knowing that
 God was ON TIME!

I rejoice therefore that I have confidence in you in all things.
2 Cor. 7:16

Connie had to receive blood and is in ICU on a ventilator again. Her blood pressure and heart rate keep going up and down, but the surgeon feels like she will be fine.
~Please keep praying, thanking, and believing.~

(Surgery Details)
Connie endured a complicated surgery that lasted over 5 hours last Friday, 12/12/14.
Her surgeon said that he sees something this bad maybe once a year.  He had to remove 3/4 of her pancreas. Several students and nurses went into surgery to see the extent of the pancreatic necrosis. The surgeon is confident that the remaining pancreas will still be able to produce enough insulin. So please pray that it does.  Her gallbladder was the size of a cantaloupe, so he had to remove it.  It was a miracle that he operated when he did because her spleen was about to rupture, so he removed it as well.  He removed 1/3 of her stomach to repair a ruptured ulcer. There was also a lot of "cleaning up" that he had to do. After surgery, Connie was not stable, and the first 48 hours were critical.  After that time, she began to make noticeable improvement.

Meet my handsome nephew, Jonathan.
Jonathan is my brother's son and my only nephew.  I love this young man dearly!  He has been having digestive problems for some time now.  After he eats, he throws up.  He had an endoscopy, and one doctor said he MAY have Gastroparesis which is a condition in which the muscles in the wall of the stomach work poorly or not at all. This can be a terrible condition to live with.  Please pray that he does not have this.  He recently went to see another gastroenterologist who will be doing several tests on him.  His liver enzymes are elevated, so they are going to check his gallbladder.  They are also going to check the vagus nerve because I think it could have something to do with Gastroparesis.
Please pray that doctors will find his problem, and give him proper treatment.
Glenn, Jonathan's dad,  also needs your prayers for some health issues that he's been battling for a long time. Please remember my brother and his entire family in your prayers.

~Thank you for praying, believing, and thanking God!~

  4. Thank you so much Chris for sharing these prayer requests and updates. I will continue to pray that God will bless Connie and your nephew Johnathan and their families. It sounds like an awfully tough time for them all, the one thing we can hold on to is that God is in control. Praise the Lord. Thank you for giving us the opportunity for us to pray for them. Thanks from Good Morning Mondays. Blessings to you and yours.
