Link Up #20 & A Minute In The Word

Welcome to Link Up #20
Before the link up, here's
~A Minute in the Word~
And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:
But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. Luke 22:31-32

When God was talking about sifting wheat he was referring to a very violent action used to separate the grain from the stalk and the chaff. It meant literally tearing the wheat apart.
Satan desired to have Peter to sift him like wheat. As Peter, Satan desires to sift us like wheat; to separate us from God's goodness and His way. He wants  God's word threshed from of our hearts and minds.
However, Christ, our intercessor, is praying for us, that our faith will not fail.  In fact, He gives us every opportunity to strengthen the our faith by studying His word and communing with Him.
Many times, Satan gets us on the threshing floor. Through suffering and trial our faith is refined. We learn to rely ever more heavily on God, and we are moved to cherish his grace more deeply. After we are strengthened, God  instructs us to strengthen our brethren.

Please forgive me for not featuring the top posts from last week.  I promise to do a feature next week, so start linking up as many posts as you'd like!
Now, on with the link up!

Reminder: A Call to Fasting and Prayer

This is the second day set aside for fasting and prayer.
Please remember Connie.  After a week of hope and progress, she has had a set back today(Oct.28th).  She is running a high fever, and doctors say that she has several pockets of fluid in her abdomen.  Surgeons will drain some, or all, of this fluid tomorrow.
Connie has shared with me the spiritual battle that she has went through during this time.  Although Satan has desired to sift her as wheat, God is, and has always been, in control.  She told me Saturday that she heard the Lord say, "It's time to get up."  I can not believe that this set back is anything other than a counter attack from the enemy.  He is a sore loser!
Connie will come through strengthened!

Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? Isa. 58:6
In answer to this question,
Yes! Lord, it is the fast that You have chosen.

Although limited, Satan has power in this world. Jesus calls him the "prince" or "ruler of this (sinful)world" (John 16:11), and Paul calls him the "god of this age" (2 Corinthians 4:4) and the "ruler of the authority of the air" (Ephesians 2:2). He blinds the minds of unbelievers (2 Corinthians 4:4) and holds them in his snare until God releases them through the gospel (2 Timothy 2:2526). He can take life, ruin health, torment with demons (Luke 11:18), provoke evil deeds (Luke 22:3), and cause natural disasters (Job 1:19).
The fact that such spiritual warfare exists should add a level of seriousness to our prayer life.
 It ought
not
to make us paranoid or fearful, but sober and earnest in our prayers and persistently conscious of needing God's power.
When the enemy is supernatural, so must our weapons be.
Although it is limited, many may ask why God allows Satan to have this power.
First, we must completely trust our "all-knowing" God.
We may not always know why.
Personally, I believe God sometimes allows Satan to fan the flames needed for the fire that He(God) refines us with.

Precious metals are made through fire.
Diamonds are made through pressure.
We are refashioned on the Potter's wheel.
Unnumbered blessings and victories are made through brokenness.
You see, Satan NEVER wins!
 In the end,
our faith is strengthened; the strengthened become the strengtheners; and glory is given to God!

Please visit Cheryl's beautiful blog, Homespun Devotions for many more prayer requests!

Update: 10-29-14
Connie was in severe pain before the surgeon took her back to drain off the fluid.  He also had to remove an air bubble that was near a tear in the lining around her stomach. This does not mean that she has a tear in her stomach.  It is a tear in the lining that surrounds her stomach, and the doctor is almost certain that it will heal on its own now. The fluid was full of infection.  She is on a couple of antibiotics, and her blood work shows that the antibiotics are working.  A few hours after the procedure, she was feeling much better!  She even had something to eat!! Praise God! What a difference a day makes.  I knew that it was the enemy trying to attack her and her husband's faith, but the Great Physician had already told her that it was time for her to get up!

Praise Report

I want to thank everyone who fasted and prayed on the 22nd.
I have a PRAISE REPORT this morning!
When I called to check on Connie this morning, her husband put her on the phone to talk with me!
She still has a breathing tube, but doctors fixed the tracheotomy tube so that she can speak.
The effects of the medication that kept her sedated for over a month have leveled off, and her MIND IS CLEAR!  It has been over a month since we have been able to talk, so it was a special gift to be able to speak with her today, which is my birthday!
Thank You, Lord!
On the phone, she thanked me for taking care of her "babies".  She said that the Lord has been working in her through all this.  She also asked me to continue praying.  I told her about all the people who are praying for her, including all those who know about her through this blog and
 Homespun Devotions.
I went to see Connie last Saturday, but she had only been awake for a couple of days and was not herself then.  Her husband says that she doesn't even remember our visit. I am very excited about seeing her again this weekend!
I praise God for His greatness!
LOOK WHAT THE LORD HAS DONE!

Cheryl has joined the call for fasting and prayer
over at her beautiful blog.  She has included more prayer requests in her post. Please visit her post and add these precious people to your prayer list.
If you didn't read my post in time or if you were unable to join the fast on the 22nd, you will have another chance to join together with several believers on the 29th.
If you have people that you would like to add to the list, please leave a comment here or contact Mrs. Cheryl through her post, or do both.
I have not heard if there is any news, since our fast yesterday, about Max, Makeya, or Lauren.  Cheryl from Homespun Devotions gets updates on them. I pray that she will receive a praise report today!
I have faith that God is preforming a GREAT work in each of them as well.
Keep checking both blogs for more updates.
God bless you all!

Link Up Party #19

Welcome to Link Up #19

Here's a question....
Are you thankful?

If you can drink a glass of fresh water, you should say, "Thank you, Lord."!

I am thankful that God protected my grandson and his mama from being injured in a car accident yesterday.
I am thankful that
no matter what may come
in this life, I have a God who is in
complete control.

I am thankful that I have an advocate who prays to the Father for me, and His wonderful name is
JESUS!
....Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat
But I (Jesus) have prayed for thee. Luke 22:31-32

 Psalm 136:1
O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

So Much At Home

Thank You, God

I have so much to be thankful for each day, but especially this evening.
My grandson and his mama were involved in a car wreck this afternoon.  A driver failed to stop and she ran into the side of Kristin's car. Praise God, Brayden was on the other side.  He was not hurt!  Kristin developed pain a little while later and went to the ER.  The doctors took an x-ray of her leg and did a CT scan of her head.  Her tests were all fine, Praise God!
My heart is full of thanks and praise!
(My daughter, Lea and Brayden Oct.13th 2014)
I realize how blessed we are tonight.
My eyes swell with tears and I continually thank God for the outcome of this accident. I don't like to think about what could have been, but it's only human to do so. All I can do is thank God.  Our family has been truly blessed.
My heart and prayers go out for little Max Brown, who is the same age as my precious grandson, and his sister
Makeya.  Their family was involved in a horrible auto accident in early August. As I set aside tomorrow as a day of prayer, I feel a very special love for these precious children.  Max and Makeya, like my little Brayden, are precious gifts that we
 as moms, dads, and grandparents
treasure and love more that words could ever say.
God, Bless all the dear little children.

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation. Psalm 91

A Call To Fasting & Prayer

Mrs Cheryl over at Homespun Devotions has posted many prayer requests for
Max Brown
Makeya Brown
and
Connie Flanders
She just added a new prayer request for Lauren Hill.

I am asking Christian readers to please join in a day of prayer and fasting on October 22, 2014 for these precious people.
If you miss this week,
please join in fasting and prayer on October 29th.

Many times in the Bible we read how people and even whole nations were called to fast. Jesus didn't say "if" you fast but rather "when" you fast in Matthew 6:16. He also said...Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting Matthew 17:21.
We are not suppose to act like hypocrites with a sad countenance and appear unto men to be fasting or go around telling others that we are fasting, BUT it is okay to call together a fast and agree to fast together for a need. There is power within the realm of spiritual warfare when we fast! Also, praise is a weapon too. I wrote a post about how Jehoshaphat sent the worshipers out before the army. The Bible says that when they BEGAN singing and praising, the LORD set ambushes against the enemy. Needless to say, the enemy was defeated!
Lets send our praises and prayers to the Lord. He is mighty and able to set ambushes up against sickness, paralysis, and even cancer. Our God is a mountain mover! I hope many will decide to fast and pray for these precious people.
Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? Isaiah 58:6

Max(2) and Makeya(6) are SURVIVORS of terrible car wreck  that happened August 2, 2014.  The accident took the life of their brother, Quinton(5). Max and Makeya have been through so much during the past few months.  Cheryl has several updates on her blog.

Connie was hospitalized on September 15, 2014 with pancreatitis and triglycerides >7890. She was sedated and on a ventilator for over 30 days.  She is dealing with withdraw symptoms from the medication that kept her asleep for over a month.  She is fighting a couple of infections.  She will need physical therapy.  She will also need speech therapy until the ventilator is removed from her trachea. She came near to death and still has obstacles ahead, but thank God she's come this far!

 Lauren Hill
Oct. 1, 2014 was Lauren's 19th birthday.
49 days after her 18th birthday, an MRI revealed a brain tumor. The actual diagnosis is DIPG: Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma. This is not a mass, but a cancer with roots at the base of her brain stem that has growing tentacles weaving through her nerves. Her condition is inoperable.
The best hope doctors could offer was maybe two years to live.

Take Heart My Friend

Take Heart My Friend!

Take heart my friend, we'll go together
This uncertain road that lies ahead
Our faithful God has always gone before us
And He will lead the way once again

Take heart my friend, we can walk together
And if our burdens become too great
We can hold up and help one another
In God's love, in God's grace

Take heart my friend, the Lord is with us
As He has been all the days of our lives
Our assurance every morning
Our defender in the night

If we should falter when trouble surrounds us
When the wind and the waves are wild and high
We will look away to Him who rules the waters
Who spoke His peace into the angry tide

He is our comfort, our sustainer
He is our help in time of need
And when we wander He is our shepherd
He who watches over us, never sleeps

Take heart my friend, the Lord is with us
As He has been all the days of our lives
Our assurance every morning
Our defender in the night

Take heart my friend, the Lord is with us
As He has been all the days of our lives
Our assurance every morning
Our defender in the night

I can across this beautiful song at Homespun Devotions, a beautiful blog where Mrs. Cheryl prays and encourages so many!
Thanks to everyone who has prayed for Connie.
Her brighter day is coming!

Link Up #18

Welcome to Link Up #18!
Please continue to pray for Connie.
She is still in ICU following a severe case of pancreatitis.
I thank everyone who has prayed and continues to pray.
Your prayers mean so very much!  That is why I would like to take this time to mention a very special lady, Mrs. Cheryl from Homespun Devotions.   She has faithfully prayed for Connie throughout her illness.  Saturday Mrs. Cheryl and her family drove to Georgia to pray for Connie. To have such compassion and love for someone she has never met shows how the Holy Spirit has filled her with His own love.
She has been such a blessing.
When Connie wakes up,
 there will be so much
 to tell her!
Thank you
ALL!

So Much At Home

The Weapon of Praise

We sing praises to reverence God and to worship Him because He is wonderful, glorious, holy, righteous, victorious, and all powerful. We praise Him through the storms because we know He is our Strong Tower, but have you ever thought of singing as being a weapon against the enemy?
Psalm 149 tells us that our weapon of praise
is the glorious privilege of His faithful ones.

Jehoshaphat sent singers out ahead of his army.
In 2 Chronicles 20 a large multitude of Moabites, Ammonites, and others came up against Jehoshaphat and his army.
And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. 2 Chronicles 20:3
And Jehoshaphat stood in the congregation of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the Lord, before the new court,
And said, O Lord God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven? and rulest not thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in thine hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee?
Art not thou our God, who didst drive out the inhabitants of this land before thy people Israel, and gavest it to the seed of Abraham thy friend for ever?
And they dwelt therein, and have built thee a sanctuary therein for thy name, saying,
If, when evil cometh upon us, as the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we stand before this house, and in thy presence, (for thy name is in this house,) and cry unto thee in our affliction, then thou wilt hear and help.
And now, behold, the children of Ammon and Moab and mount Seir, whom thou wouldest not let Israel invade, when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned from them, and destroyed them not;
Behold, I say, how they reward us, to come to cast us out of thy possession, which thou hast given us to inherit.
O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.
 5-12

And all Judah stood before the Lord, with their little ones, their wives, and their children.
Then upon Jahaziel....came the Spirit of the Lord in the midst of the congregation;
And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the Lord unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's. 13-15

Then they were commanded to stand and believe!

Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the Lord will be with you.
And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell before the Lord, worshiping the Lord.16-18

And they rose early in the morning, ...and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper. 20:20
And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the Lord, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the Lord; for his mercy endureth for ever.

Now, I love this part!

And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the enemy.

As God’s people sang and praised, the enemy armies slew each other!
God inhabited the praise of His people!
We should be wise and consider 2 Chronicles 20 when  we
face life's battles.  This chapter instructs on prayer, fasting, believing, and singing praise.  Many of us save the praise until the victory, but here it was used as a weapon against the enemy!
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Eph 6:12

Our songs are not only songs of praise, they can be mighty weapons in spiritual warfare.
Isn't is a sweet thought to know that our Lord
joys over us with singing?!
The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.Zephaniah 3:17

Praise the Lord!
Sing to the Lord a new song.
Sing his praises in the assembly of the faithful.
O Israel, rejoice in your Maker.
O people of Jerusalem, exult in your King.
Praise his name with dancing,
accompanied by tambourine and harp.
For the Lord delights in his people;
he crowns the humble with victory.
Let the faithful rejoice that he honors them.
Let them sing for joy as they lie on their beds.
Let the praises of God be in their mouths,
and a sharp sword in their hands—
to execute vengeance on the nations
and punishment on the peoples,
to bind their kings with shackles
and their leaders with iron chains,
to execute the judgment written against them.
This is the glorious privilege of his faithful ones.
Praise the Lord! Psalm 149 NLT
