Jumping On The Bandwagon Part 2

In a previous post, Jumping On The Bandwagon, I tried to point out that just because something is labeled "Christian" doesn't mean that it is.  I mentioned a so called "Christian" concert, and pointed out a few facts about the groups and their members that were clearly in opposition to Christianity.  However, several churches, youth groups, and Christian families, without a second thought, heedlessly jumped on the bandwagon.

Some argue that people like me are being too critical, and that I am forming my opinions based on their appearance.  This is not what I am doing, nor is it what I proclaimed in my other post!  With spiritual discernment, I searched the matter to see if my initial "gut feeling" was guiding me right.

One of the bands that performed at this concert happens to be a big sensation among many Christians.  Many would argue that the band reaches out to young people, through their appearance and style, who would otherwise be unreachable.
  Now I ask you,
Is God limited? No!
 Is his hand shortened? No!
Is He not able to seek and save? No!
Who then is behind this "style" of reaching out?
Well, check out this website!
Carnival of Madness,

(The images were not appropriate for my blog.)
Here you will see this "Christian" group in concert with other bands clearly professing demonic actions and appearances. I do not believe that any God fearing, sold-out for Christ band would join in any concert such as this.
This is a clear case of putting darkness for light! Isaiah 5:20
The lead singer and his band said that they prefer to avoid using the word "Christian.  He was quoted as saying,
"I just tell people I'm in a hard-rock band. I leave 'Christian' out."
Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.
But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. Matthew 10:32-33
Now why would any Christian want to go to a Christian concert and be entertained by a band who leaves "Christian" out?
If we take Jesus Himself as our model
(That’s what all Christians say they want to do.), we should ask ourselves these question, "When Jesus was spreading the gospel Himself on the earth, did He shape the gospel to meet the wants, the biases, the expectations, or wishes of the sinners?" No!
"Did He change His appearance or His "style" to fit in with the pagan culture?" No!
"Was that His method of operation, such as it is for many so called Christians today?"
There is a definite pressure to conform to this world rather than to separate oneself from its godless influence. Religious rock is a cheap imitation of secular rock and roll. These "Christian" rockers, like the secular, play their music at the same ear-splitting level and give off the same nightclub bar-room atmosphere with all the colored lights, smoke, and special effects. Little do these religious rockers realize, but as they identify with and imitate the secular rock scene they are indirectly giving approval to that type of morality and lifestyle. As a result they are a path of destruction for others.
"They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate"
 (Titus 1:16)
Some Christians may say that a singer quoted scripture, made a moving speech, or yelled the name of Jesus,
but even the devil knows who Jesus is!
And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?
Acts 19:15
He also knows scripture.
In Matthew 4 you read Satan quoting scripture. But unlike Satan, Jesus correctly applies it. It's interesting to note, just because someone quotes scripture, such as "rockers", doesn't mean they're imparting the gospel correctly.

Many argue (misinterpreting the scripture)
that Jesus went out and "mingled" with sinners.
On the contrary, The Lord Jesus never conformed or copied the ways of the ungodly. The Bible says: "For such a high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;"
Hebrews 7:26.
"I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world" John 17:14.
The Word of God does not say we are to go out and borrow the evil ways. We are commanded to come out and separate ourselves from evil.

The Word of God does not say we are to go out and borrow the evil ways of the ungodly and use them for "soul winning", but rather we are commanded to come out and separate ourselves from evil.
We should mourn over the tragedy of the loss of discernment among the body of Christ.

Will the church abandon its role of salt and light and put on the same garments of darkness and sensuality that the world wraps itself in?
After all, when Christ calls us to follow Him, He calls us to take up our crosses and follow Him. Jesus was concerned about our eternal destiny. He didn't mind if people were convicted of sin, if it brought them to their knees, and led to conversion. He was far more interested in doing things the way God wanted them done, than in satisfying the cravings of the sinful flesh. And in all decisions, we should be more interested in pleasing God than in winning the fleeting favor of the masses.
"If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also. But all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me."
John 15:18-21
Many people may argue that if Christians are too separated, then people will be turned off and take to the world more so. People must see in the lives of Christians that they have given up the love of the world, lust of the flesh, and its pride. We must live separated from the world, holy, watchful, denying self, and given to charity(love).

Christians must face the fact that the Devil has created an ungodly “atmosphere” in this world, and it leads people away from God and into sin. Furthermore, the Devil’s intent in creating an ungodly atmosphere is to have people conform to it. That is why God tells us that we must not be conformed to the pattern (the mold) of the world. As Christians, we must become sensitive to the spiritual atmosphere around us, and able to recognize how we are being influenced, and whether that influence is godly or ungodly.Christians need to think about what they are doing and why they are doing it, not just do what everyone else is doing.

Then there is that which seems more obvious, and yet, as Christians, we fail to discern at times.
After I finished writing the first post, Jumping On The Bandwagon , I felt the Lord convicting me about something.  Here I was all upset because of evil masking itself as "Christian", and then I realized I had heedlessly accepted a similar situation just weeks before.  You see, I feel as if I am "chief of sinners" at times just as Paul felt.  I write these posts to encourage everyone, including myself.
From past experience, I know the danger from the spirits behind worldly music.  However, it is hard to filter out everything in this world unless we live as hermits.  I'm not backing up on my beliefs here! It's just that if you are in the world (which we all are),  then you are going to be affected by it in some way.  It may even walk through your front door as a family member or a dearest friend.  Therefore, I know that I need to PRAY continually.  I have to stand firm on my beliefs, and try my best (with God's help) to maintain a godly home.  It is important to treat everyone with love although we can't always accept the things they do, the shows they watch, the music they listen to.  Perhaps, they will see our difference as something genuine and sincere.  Maybe they will look at our faith and see God working in our lives. My desire is that we can all build each other up in Christ.  God forbid anyone seeing me as someone trying to act holier-than-thou or hypocritical as a Pharisee, because in my heart I know I'm not.  Yes, the world may not understand me.  The world may hate me, but let me daily strive to be more like Jesus.
His life is the model life for us.
He did not conform!
He did not alter His message!
He was in the world, but He was not of the world.
He was love, yet His message caused division.
There is no way we can be blameless or perfect in this world.  We are going to sin.  We grow spiritually and gain wisdom during our pilgrimage.  Grace does NOT give us freedom to sin.  I think it is important to stay sensitive to the Spirit.  If we never feel convicted about anything, then the devil must have us where he wants us.
It hurts me when I realize my sin, but I am thankful when I know of what to repent of.
As I think about this world and the sin that has crept in little by little throughout the years, and continues to do so, I feel an urgency to stay spiritually awake.
We must be aware of anything that puts darkness for light, light for darkness, sweet for bitter, bitter for sweet!
We have to discern between the evil called good and the good called evil.  There are false teachers and witnesses seeking their own gain.
The devil is subtle and crafty.  He doesn't want to expose evil as it is. He wants to desensitize us to accept it in small doses until it rears its ugly head in utter destruction.  If we could see his deceitful plan and see evil at its core, we would be frightened away, to say the least.  However, satan doesn't want us running away.  He isn't going to jump out and say "Boo!" No, he is making light of evil in many forms, and he wants to load up as many as he can on his bandwagon of
What bandwagons are we running to jump onto?
false doctrine?
spiritual complacency?
selfish pleasures?
worldly acceptance?
We need to give it a good look.  We need to ask for spiritual discernment, because satan may be hiding something.  We need to pray.  We need to search scripture. Don't accept something just because everyone else is doing it, and don't be deceived just because something proclaims its "Christian".
Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
 1 Thessalonians 5:21

Jumping On The Bandwagon

Why are many Christians so eager to jump on the bandwagon (pun intended) just because something says it's Christian?
For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
John 12:43
I recently heard about another "Rocking out for Christ" type concert.  Many Christians are making plans to attend.  Churches are taking their youth groups so their kids can jump, shout, make "worship" gestures, and headbang.
Here is one of the groups performing.
Does this look "set apart" or "of the world"? Actually, they're dressed like they should be on the cover of a Twilight movie or Beetlejuice. Am I judging? No, I am not judging their heart, or how God may deal with them. I am discerning between the things of this world and holiness.
And here is some information I found that settled the issue for me.
Everyday more and more artists or bands in the Christian industry speak about shedding the title of "Christian." In an interview with STLtoday, front man of the band Skillet, John Cooper, went into greater detail about why he and his band prefer to avoid using the word "Christian."
"I just tell people I'm in a hard-rock band. I leave 'Christian' out," he told STLtoday. "A lot of people don't know what Christian rock is, or they think it's only for Christian people. We're not a band that only sings to Christian people. I meet tons of fans, and I've had fans that said, 'I'm an atheist and I love your message."

But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men. Matthew 16:23

Here is another group performing at this "Jam".
Modest apparel?
Pertaining to godliness?
What is my reasoning for being against this form of
"Christian" music and performance?
I will tell you.
God does not tell Christians to reach the world by becoming part of it!
In fact, the bible says, "And be not conformed to this world..."Romans 12:2

Wow, here is another group that many Christians will be running to hear at this Thursday's Jam.

If the picture doesn't speak for itself, here is a little information about this band and quotes from one of its members.
According to Solomon Olds, "To me, and pretty much anybody that's under my age, most Christian music is a turnoff. I don't want to be affiliated with that. I want to be affiliated with something that is great music.
Their debut album has been both disparaged and praised by Christian and non-Christian critics respectively for not containing overtly Christian content in any of its tracks.
Family Force 5 claims to be a Christian band and they may be a band made up of self-professing Christians. But the lyrics to their songs have nothing to do with Jesus Christ, His church or anything of lasting moral value. Their lyrics primarily fall into 3 categories: Partying, Dancing, and Infatuation with girls.
The music of Family Force 5 causes people to lose self control – which is in opposition to the fruit of the Holy Spirit.
In fact their lyrics encourage this:
Hey kids rock ‘n’ roll
Shake your body now lose control
Just Move it, Lose it
Whatcha Whatcha gonna do with it
Hey kids rock ‘n’ roll
Shake your body now lose control
There is spiritual danger behind this!
As for so called Christians, I can only think of two words...
Spiritually asleep!
It is like satan has unleashed a noxious gas that has dulled or totally paralyzed the minds of Christians.
Why don't parents, church leaders,  and pastors find out more about these groups they are encouraging their kids to go watch?

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge Hos. 4:6

How many don't care or don't want to see any harm in it?  How many just want to please their children and give them an alternative(albeit it is not an alternative at all) to other activities?  How many don't question it because it claims to be "Christian" oriented?
Do they see it as the lesser of two evils, or do they just not see the evil?
Satan is the master deceiver, and he is busy at work.
And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 2 Cor. 11:14

Please Christians, think twice before jumping on the bandwagon!
This goes for movies and other forms of "entertainment" as well!
Let's look at the Super Bowl.
Ouch, I'm stepping on some toes here.
  However, I read on that
Perry III
Pop star Katy Perry, a former contemporary Christian artist, promoted experimenting with lesbianism during the halftime show during Super Bowl XLIX, singing her 2008 hit song “I Kissed a Girl” to the thousands gathered at the University of Phoenix stadium and the millions watching on television.
According to reports, the Super Bowl generated record ratings, up 4 percent from last year, with over 100 million people estimated as viewing the game, including the halftime show featuring Perry.  Then there's the ads and the seductive, almost naked cheerleaders.
How many Christians seen nothing wrong with sitting through that? What's more, Many churches watch the Super Bowl inside the church! The same sins they decry, the bring into the church Super Bowl Sunday! They bring food, laugh, and cheer for their team.
How many Christians use the excuse of not living under the law anymore to justify their sinful actions? Does grace give any Christian the right to ignore or participate in sin?
However, many ignore the sin, or feel like they will not be affected by it.
Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own steadfastness.
2 Peter 3:17
Many Christians misconstrue that all things are lawful for them, so "seeing" others sin should be okay as long as they are not the ones actually doing it. This would explain why Christians rationalize that it is perfectly okay to watch The Walking Dead and other demonic horror shows with wizards, zombies, vampires, and other forms that look like they crawled straight up out of the pits of hell.
But God's word says,
I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me. Psalm 101:3

A Cry For Revival

Signs are pointing to the end of the age and the soon return of Jesus Christ.  However, it is alarming that many of God's people are not recognizing or responding to this crucial hour.
Look at
 the war in Syria,
 fighting in Gaza,
 the brutal killings and beheadings,
Christian genocide,
Islamic State selling, crucifying, burying children alive in Iraq,
 the aggressiveness of Russia,
global growth of anti-Semitism and anti-Christianity,
religious discrimination against Christianity,
persecution of Christians growing in the US,
 lawsuits against Christians,
 same sex marriages,
human trafficking,
economical crisis,
prescription and other drug addictions,
new diseases (Ebola),
Increasing natural disasters (North Texas rattled by 11 earthquakes in just over one day),
government mandated tolerance for all types of perverseness.

Certainly world news should indicate how serious this hour is.
During Jesus' ministry He was amazed that the people could understand signs related to weather, but they could not discern the signs of the time.

He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.
And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times? Matthew 16:2-3

In such days,
the Lord calls HIS people to act!
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chr. 7:14
Too many Christians have the attitude,
"Relax and wait for the rapture."
Christians see the need for the evildoers to repent.  We believe that if these evildoers change their way of thinking, the world will be better off.
However, who does God look at?
God looks at the condition of HIS people and His church.
Sinners are dead in their sins, doing what comes naturally--sinning.
But we are God's people!
I read this quote somewhere,
"Perhaps the church doesn't suffer for the sins of the world
as much as the the world suffers for the sins of the church."
America is in the state of
spiritual emergency!
The answer will not be found by implementing more messed up government programs!
No, the answer is spiritual!
The answer is...
"Yet even now, declares the Lord, Return to Me..." Joel 2:12
Wake up Christians!
There is an urgency to call out as the Prophet Jeremiah did.
"My eyes fail from weeping, I am in torment within, my heart is poured out on the ground because my people are destroyed" Lam 2:11.
[I was going to post a link(not the actual picture)to a website with graphic images associated with the horrific crimes of isis here, but
I was grieved and nauseated by the images myself. Just search Google images for "isis" if you are in the dark about the spiritual warfare going on in this world. I warn you though; it may make you sick.]
The point I wanted to make from the images was this...
Are our eyes failing from weeping?
 Are we tormented within?
  Is our heart poured out?
The painful effects of wickedness we are experiencing
in our families, in our community, in our country, and throughout the world should
awaken us (God's people) with urgency to a
sacred cry for revival!
The condition of our world is ominous .
We may, in fact, be living in the last days before the return of Christ.
Just as Joel anguished over the callousness, carnality, and complacency of God's people in his day, we too must possess this kind of intensity and urgency as we realize the need for revival.
Where does it begin?
For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? 1 Peter 4:17
Why is the "light" so hidden in this world?
Why has the "salt" lost its flavor?
Too many Christians are thinking of SELF.
If evil hasn't broken down their front door, then perhaps they are comfortable enough to turn a deaf ear or a blind eye to the torment of others.
Why are God's people to proud to humble themselves in sackcloth, ashes, and bitter weeping?
It may do us all good to remember Ester's warning.
Then Mordecai commanded to answer Ester, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king's house, more than all the Jews. Ester 4:13
Many Christians rather hear a pleasant dissertation on Psalm 23 rather than be rattled by a fiery sermon from a man who exclaims with passion and a broken sob, "Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?"Psalm 94:16
The New Testament church did not depend on the moral majority, but rather the holy minority.
The church right now has
more fashion than passion
more pathetic than prophetic
more superficial than supernatural.
The early church was identified with persecutions, prisons, and poverty; today many of us are identified with prosperity, popularity, and personalities.~ Leonard Ravenhill
Clearly, there is a serious discrepancy between who Christians say they are, and what they say they believe, and how they are living.  As a result, the church is as weak as, or even weaker than, the culture itself.
The time of reckoning draws nigh when every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
 (Rom. 14:12)
Just because many Christians believe they have their "admit one" ticket to Heaven, they think they are allowed to sit back and do much of nothing.
Nowhere in the Bible does God call us to spiritual laziness!
How can we drift listlessly along with such a need for spiritual revival?
We are called to be laborers and ambassadors for Christ!
Are we complacent, cold, dead, or lukewarm?
So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
Rev. 3:16
Are we not worried about the alarms sounding?
Are we comfortable just where we are?
How can the church be the salt and light of the lost world if it is no different from that lost world?
And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?Luke 6:46
Spiritual awakening needs to be the passion of the church!
"...For the day of the Lord is near; it will come like destruction from the almighty" Joel 1:15
It's time to cry out...
Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the Lord your God, and
cry unto the Lord. Joel 1:13
Look around.
God is warning His people.
The alarms are going off everywhere.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord. Psalm 33:12
God is full of mercy and compassion.  God blesses His people and nations.  However, God judges them as well.(Jer. 18:7-10)
The God of the Bible will not endlessly tolerate idolatry and evil from a nation.
He extends grace, but He cannot accept sin.
It's not just about how the world is acting, but how the church is behaving.
Today, we need an extraordinary move of God!
Revival begins with us, the church.
God is waiting for our cry.
Many may think their individual cry wouldn't be enough to start a revival.
However, a blaze is started by a tiny spark.
Cry out to God for His mercy and for a revival.
Our only hope for restoration is through the power of the
 Holy Spirit.
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chr. 7:14
When God tries to awaken us, it is not wise to hit the snooze button!
See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:
Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. Hebrews 12:25-26

Valentine Girl & More Bargain Finds

I found a lovely addition to my Valentine decor!
See more pictures at my original post:

Decorating With Love

This past Friday, Mother and I stopped by a small flea market that we had never visited before, and I found this beautiful Valentine Girl!
I'm not sure if she's vintage or not, but I just had to have her!  I couldn't very well pass her up for only $1!
I think she adds a touch of vintage charm to my Valentine decor.
I decided to name her Caroline Grace after my Mother(Carolyn) and daughter(Lea Grace).

Here's another bargain find!
Last weekend, I found this set of dishes at a thrift store.  I paid $9.99 for the entire set!

This is the second set of dishes that I have found for $10!
Here is a picture of my first bargain price set of dishes!  I found these several years ago at an estate sale.
I have been collecting a few Easter and Spring knick knacks as I find them. After Valentine's Day, I will begin changing out and decorating for Spring.
