The Walls Are Broken Down

...and it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of Heaven.  Nehemiah 1:4

The walls are broken down!
What does this mean?  First of all, in the book of Nehemiah the walls of Jerusalem were broken down and the gates were burned with fire.  The wall protected God's children from the reproach of the enemy.
Today, satan is mocking and ridiculing the Christian remnant in America and throughout the world.  It seems like each day we see parts of the wall being laid to waste with laws being passed that blatantly oppose God's word.
Grievous sin and sinful lifestyles are celebrated in society.  Evil is demanding respect and acceptance today because...
Acceptance is not in line with God's word.
Achievement is measured by secular views.
Accountability is apart from God.
Conformity wants nothing to do with holiness.
Correctness is anything except the Holy Bible.
Dignity is in the eyes of one's self.
Respect is shown for all things that oppose godliness.
Truth has turned into satan's lies.
The list of godless "values" goes on,
 and America Celebrates!
Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Isaiah 5:20
Don't get me wrong, this post isn't just about the latest law that was passed.
The "wall" that symbolizes Christianity has been crumbling way before this week's news headlines.
The excuse heard from so many today is that we have all sinned, so how can any person call any sin wrong.
 This makes No sense!
That's like saying that just because a person tells a a lie, then it's okay for someone else to murder someone.  Let us not judge this murderer because we have all sinned, and he has rights.
Yes, this is happening today with a procedure called abortion and  partial-birth abortion. Yes, all this can be forgiven, and even a lie should prick the heart of a Christian to repentance because it is indeed sin.  However, the truth is that people don't care about repentance.  They only want sin legalized so they can freely indulge and feel unashamed.  They know it's sin, but they need to feel that it's okay, so satan happily obliges them.  Our legal system today protects the rights of those who want to feel no quilt about their sins. Since the law was passed legalizing gay marriage,  polygamist and child pedophiles want equal rights to indulge in their sins as well. Using the same tactics used by “gay” rights activists, pedophiles have begun to seek similar status arguing their desire for children is a sexual orientation no different than heterosexual or homosexuals. This is actually going on people!  In the meantime, Christians are labeled as haters because we do not agree with sin.  Being opposed to a person's sinful lifestyle does NOT make a Christian a hater.  On the contrary, true Christians will reach out to help and pray for others.  However, satan has to turn the table around to justify and make sin appealing.  Who better to bear the brunt than those who serve the Lord Jesus.
But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me. John 15:21
There is no respect for godliness.
There is no respect for godly leaders. People don't respect law enforcement officers who try to maintain order and safety. They rather cause riots and lawlessness not because they demand justice, but because this world craves uproar, sin, destruction, drunkenness, revelings, sexual immorality, moral impurity, and chaos.
The walls are broken down and are in ruin!
Are we, as the church and as individuals, weeping, praying, and fasting as Nehemiah?
Who gives it much thought?  If we call ourselves Christians and we find time for
ballgames
movies
fishing
camping
races
vacation
and all sorts of recreational activities,
then surely we have time to pray.  Thirty minutes to an hour on Sunday isn't enough!  Furthermore, I wouldn't want to waste my time playing games, eating, and listening to a 5 minute Bible story that has been heard a million times on a Wednesday night.  Our young people are not benefiting from all this play time!  Shouldn't we be seeing more of a change in our youth if all these games were actually working?
We need seriousness.  We need the Word of God being preached and LIVED!
I'm not throwing off on everyone else.  I have been so guilty of squandering precious time needed in prayer myself!
It's past time to wake up!
 The church is complacent.
There needs to be A Cry For Revival (Click on title to read that post.)

What did Nehemiah do about the broken wall in his day?

Then said I unto them, Ye see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lieth waste, and the gates thereof are burned with fire: come, and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be no more a reproach.
Then I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me; as also the king's words that he had spoken unto me. And they said, Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for this good work. Neh. 2:17-18

Nehemiah showed godly leadership, but whenever anyone says, "I will arise and build." satan always replies, "Then I will arise and oppose."
This is exactly what happened.
He was surrounded by opposition and ridicule.
But when Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, and Geshem the Arabian, heard it, they laughed us to scorn, and despised us, and said, What is this thing that ye do? will ye rebel against the king?

I like how Nehemiah responded!

Then answered I them, and said unto them, The God of heaven, he will prosper us; therefore we his servants will arise and build: but ye have no portion, nor right, nor memorial, in Jerusalem.

I can hear us, as Christians today, telling the enemy that the God of Heaven WILL prosper us!  You have no portion(heritage), nor right, nor memorial, in our Father's Kingdom!

To make a long story short, Nehemiah and the people finished the wall in record time, regardless of much opposition.  With God, they came together to defend each other, and worked together!

Read these few verses below

Therefore set I in the lower places behind the wall, and on the higher places, I even set the people after their families with their swords, their spears, and their bows.
And I looked, and rose up, and said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not ye afraid of them: remember the Lord, which is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses.
And it came to pass, when our enemies heard that it was known unto us, and God had brought their counsel to nought, that we returned all of us to the wall, every one unto his work.
And it came to pass from that time forth, that the half of my servants wrought in the work, and the other half of them held both the spears, the shields, and the bows, and the habergeons; and the rulers were behind all the house of Judah.
They which builded on the wall, and they that bare burdens, with those that laded, every one with one of his hands wrought in the work, and with the other hand held a weapon.
For the builders, every one had his sword girded by his side, and so builded. And he that sounded the trumpet was by me.
And I said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, The work is great and large, and we are separated upon the wall, one far from another.
In what place therefore ye hear the sound of the trumpet, resort ye thither unto us: our God shall fight for us.
So we laboured in the work: and half of them held the spears from the rising of the morning till the stars appeared.
Likewise at the same time said I unto the people, Let every one with his servant lodge within Jerusalem, that in the night they may be a guard to us, and labour on the day.
So neither I, nor my brethren, nor my servants, nor the men of the guard which followed me, none of us put off our clothes, saving that every one put them off for washing.

However, before all this unity and work began, there was weeping, praying, and fasting. Read Chapter 1.
After the walls were restored, there was more fasting, prayer, reading of the Word, confessed sins, and worship.
Therefore,
a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, forsook them not.Neh.9:17
Many times the Lord delivered His people because He is a gracious and merciful God. We still see His mercy today.
However, He is a God that executes judgement.

Now will I shortly pour out my fury upon thee, and accomplish mine anger upon thee: and I will judge thee according to thy ways, and will recompense thee for all thine abominations(SINS). Ezekiel 7:8

Woe to the sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward. Isa.1:4

America, our walls are broken and in ruin! Hasn't our nation provoked our Holy and Righteous God to anger? It's time to look around and see what is lain in ruin.
I can hardly stand to watch the news. I see human trafficking of little children, brutal killings, sleazy and demonic entertainment, increased prescription drug use, riots, increased violence, and so much more.
There can still be a great revival within our country, our community, and our homes! God would have none to perish.
The Bible tells us that there will be perilous days in the end times. We are headed into more persecution. Christians are being sued because more and more laws are against us.
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31
Jesus has gone to prepare a place for us, and the walls there will never need repair.

  1. It is indeed a sad time as our nation crumbles... we do need revival and we do need to pray. God will refine His church... may we all keep our eyes on Him. Jesus Christ - the same yesterday and today and forever.

  3. Thank you so much for sharing your passionate heart to uphold the Word of God. I stand with you as a sister-in-Christ in agreement with your admonishons and your encouragement. I am first in line to the "wake-up" call as I can be guilty of not praying for our country and for God's kingdom as I ought.

I don't understand why people comment that one sin isn't worse than another. But the difference is, yes, we have our own sins, but we aren't embracing them and justifying them. We feel the weight of it and want to repent. That is quite different than what we are being accused of.

May God bless you for stainding for Christ in a world that has forgotten Him.

  4. The moral decline in America is frightening but predictable. Christians need to wake up and stand up for what is right. I'm looking forward to Jesus' return!

  5. When I volunteered to meet with those who pray over our city, our Pastor asked me to bring a focus for each meeting. I did a Google search "How to Pray for your city," and received some interesting prayer suggestions. Laura Gagnon at: http://xpectamiracle.blogspot.com/ has some prayers for different needs that can be copied and used as long as they are not sold. She has experienced personal deliverance from praying and taking a stand in prayer. Some of her prayers are DECREES that you later begin to use to prophesy over your city and nation. We are a Holy Priesthood and are able to reach out as a priest/prophet and make these decrees. Our first step was to repent for ourselves, and ask forgiveness, then to repent for the people who were living in sin. Jesus said, whose sins you remit shall be remitted. This may be too heavy for some - but we need to get down to brass tacks and mean business even if it means praying in a manor we have never done before. Thank you for sharing your heart with us here at Tell me a Story.

  7. Thank you for standing up and sharing the truth! We are in a grievous situation in America, but you're right: What is better than prayer in impacting our nation as well as drawing us near to God?
