“Pharmakia”or “Drugs”: Gateways to Satanic Influences

The Greek word “pharmakia” literally means “drugs”.
“Pharmakia” is translated into our English Bible as either “witchcraft” or “sorceries”, and it appears five times in the New Testament in Gal 5:20, Rev 9:21, 18:23, 21:8, and 22:15. We also get our English word “pharmacy” from the Greek word “pharmakia”.
In each of the above five passages, “pharmakia”, or “drugs” is listed as a work of the flesh of man as opposed to the Spirit of God working in us.

Now I am not saying that everyone who has to take prescription drugs for an ailment is practicing witchcraft, but there is a prevalent and growing trend of prescription drug abuse today. Also, I am not implying that a sick or dying person does not need pain medicine for comfort during his or her last days, or that a person doesn't need to be "knocked out" for surgery. However, If you can taper off or change your lifestyle so that you don't have to daily depend on strong mind-altering and pain killing drugs,
 but you choose not to,
then a gateway to satanic influence has been thrown wide open.
Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. James 5:13-15

Is anything too hard for God?
You can have the victory over addiction because nothing is too hard for God.

Jesus has already defeated what you are battling. We are all guilty if giving the devil too much praise when we think he has us licked. If we could only see and understand the power of the blood that Jesus, and Jesus alone, has given to believers through His sacrifice and the Holy Spirit within us! Greater is HE that is in us than he that is in the world! No wonder Jesus said, "Oh ye of little faith?" We need to build up ourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost..Jude 20.
Although I have posted about "Pharmakia", addiction can be any stronghold.
 Let us "soldier up"!
We have a powerful and undefeated weapon of warfare, but we must know how to execute this power in our own life. We also need to know the enemy, and realize the areas in our life that he plots to use against us to tear us down.
Satan desires to sift (violently thresh) us as wheat!
Luke 22:31
What are we allowing in our homes and in our daily lives that opens us up to demonic influences and satanic attacks?
Ask God to reveal these areas to you.

Remember, the devil masquerades as an angle of light.
He tries to imitate God and is a master counterfeiter.
 He can even quote scripture.
Demonic spirits even disguise themselves into the apostles of Christ (false teachers).
Before his pride and rebellion caused him to fall, the devil was beautiful, dazzling, and he was established by God to be the angel of worship.
Angel in charge of worship?
No wonder satan has used the secular music industry as
 a broad gateway
to demonic activity,
but that may be another post.

Listen to this sermon: From the Palace to the Pit

He is relentlessly working to steal, kill, and destroy, but the manual for our warfare is the Bible.
We have a direct line to our Commander through prayer.
 In fact,
 Our Lord,
Jehovah Nissi,
is willing to wage warfare on our
He lifts up a standard against our enemies!
 He is our Victory.
His banner over us is love!
It may be a hard battle or we may only need to lift our hands as Moses did Exodus 17.
 It is SPIRITUAL warfare!
We have to fight in the Spirit,
 pray in the Spirit,
 and worship in the Spirit!
"For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds."
2 Corinthians 10:4

  1. Hi! I'm visiting from Monday's Musings. It's my first time linking up! I had never known where the word pharmacy came from. It's interesting to see word origins. I know there are some people who really do need the drugs that are being prescribed. But I also know that we need to pray more and realize the power of prayer in our everyday lives. I'm all for going the natural route through healthy eating, exercise and also using herbs and essential oils, but I know that God is above it all and He is the Healer. Blessings to you!

    1. Thanks Gayl for your comment. I hope you will visit here often. I hope you will link up at my weekly link up parties as well. God bless.

  2. I do think that what you said is true - since we have so much more access to medicine we don't rely on God has our first choice. And I know also that you have to be aware - many doctors now are pill pushers and just want to treat the symptoms and not the illness. Thanks for reminding us of where our true healing comes from. Blessings.

  3. The pharmaceutical industry is very powerful right now and the influence it has over many is scary. I know many in our church have gone astray because of their dependencies. It all starts with a little pain killer for a bad back and the next thing you know, they are no longer interested in living their life, all they want is stronger meds. We need to practice caution and ask family members to hold us accountable should we truly need to take such pills. Thank you for sharing this!

  4. Many thanks for this brilliant post! Many points have extremely useful. Hopefully you'll continue sharing your knowledge around. drug alcohol treatment center

  5. You know your projects stand out of the herd. There is something special about them. It seems to me all of them are really brilliant!
