The Walking Dead, Please Don't Watch!

The Walking Dead, Please Don't Watch!
“…Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.” Rom 12:9

I have ranted and raved over the television show, The Walking Dead, so many times in other posts, that I decided to devote a whole post on the putrefying show. If you are spellbound by this show, prepare to be offended by this post.
The Bible says to abstain from all appearance of evil.
1 Thessalonians 5:22
The fact is, so many people do not see evil for what it really is.
What's more, they do not want to acknowledge that something is evil because they enjoy it.  If you claim to be a born again child of God, yet you cannot perceive that the idea of zombies, with their bones showing and their guts hanging out, who mindlessly stumble about killing and eating people wasn’t conceived straight from the pits of hell, then you are not where you need to be spiritually!
This isn’t my judgement but God’s according to His Word. You won’t find a verse in the Bible that says, “Do not watch The Walking Dead television show.” However, Genesis to Revelations, you will discover that God hates evil. You will read how we wrestle against spiritual wickedness. God gives us instructions to guard our hearts against any and all forms of evil. Furthermore, He warns us against filling our minds with immorality. We are to set our minds on the things “ABOVE”, not horror and gore.
I heard a woman once refer to something awful by saying, “That kills my soul.” In all truth, that hits the nail right on the head. Satan seeks to destroy. Little by little he is spiritually tearing down those who give their minds over to such violence and wickedness.  Such shows open the gateway to demonic activities for those who choose to be entertained by it.
The idea for such evil flesh-eating monsters as zombies stems from those who practice  Voodoo in Haiti and Africa. They have long believed that sorcerers were responsible for reanimating corpses; that is, to have a corpse act as though it is alive while continuing the natural process of decay.
In other words, this demonic idea of zombies is that a being is raised from the grave to continue being dead. It’s certainly not the kind of resurrection that Christ promises. Instead, it’s one of a deathly existence.
Jesus says, "I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live."
John 11:25
No matter how the devil tries to emulate Him, satan can not outdo God.
The sole fact that zombie origin comes from voodoo and sorcery should be enough to turn us away from such evil. However, it doesn’t. Not even the bloody sight of such putrid beings eating the flesh of others is turning the heads of church goers, including ministers and youth group leaders. The devil has people engrossed in wickedness, and most argue in denial because they enjoy watching such suspenseful gore and wickedness.
It blows my mind how many people are captivated by this show.  A lady told me that she heard the radio announcers from a local radio station going on and on about last Sunday's episode of The Walking Dead. She said that they were talking about how awesome the episode was, and that if anyone missed it then they really missed something good. It seems like everyone is talking about The Walking Dead.
However, you don't hear much about Sunday sermons.  You won't hear the radio announcers going on and on about how awesome God is.  You won't hear them telling people what they are missing out on if they aren't experiencing God in their lives!
No, everyone is obsessed with the "dead"!
Many so called Christians have thought up a lamebrain excuse for watching The Walking Dead by using the analogy that before salvation, we were all the walking dead. Sermons, blog posts, and various studies have been created using The Walking Dead theme by those who watch it just so they can have some form of reasoning for entertaining themselves with it.
Well, before coming to the Lord, many may have been:
addicted to pornography,
or drug dealers,
but it's idiotic for a person to use the analogy that they were once one of these people in order to justify watching movies related to pron, murder, sex, and violence.
Even though this series is gruesome and has an origin in evil, so many, including those who are suppose to be children of God,  will argue that it isn't bad.
People have become so desensitized that they do not know what "bad" is anymore!
What's more, they are fast to say, "Judge not!"  However, as I have already written, we are to Judge All Things.  We are to discern between good and evil!
I will not insert pictures from The Walking Dead on my blog, but I am posting a link to some images. Be ready to quickly X-out of the page that will pop up, and make sure no child is standing nearby!
WARNING: These are horrible and painful to view.
*Caution! Click here to see images. *Caution!
I do not like to see these images, and I am not asking you to view them.
I am sure most of you have already been exposed, because of the zombie mania today.  However, these are pictures from the series to give you an idea of what people, including those claiming to be born again, are watching every Sunday evening after church. I have briefly seen images such as these while researching this horrible show.
The reason I am linking such pictures is to ask you a few question.
If you were able, even for a brief moment, to view these horrible images, did they relate to holiness?
Did they pertain to things above?
Did they pertain to whatsoever things are lovely or pure?
Was there anything of virtue about them?
Lord, help us!  These images are nothing but evil!
Why are so many deceived?
Why do so many people love this television series?
I couldn't have watched anything like this before I was saved, much less watch it now while the Holy Spirit abides in me.
It is not possible for the two to abide together!
Keep your heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. Proverbs 4:23

Gore and evil do indeed exact a price on all of us, and it desensitize people so that what used to be shocking and unthinkable no longer is. In short, it makes one callous. The show reminds me of Jesus' words regarding the end times.
 Jesus says,
"...because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold." Matthew 24:12
People are waxing cold.  How can one's spirit not be grieved and moved not to watch such demonic torture of other humans.
I can discern without even watching that the show overflows with nihilism [the rejection of all religious and moral principles, often in the belief that life is meaningless.].

Some defending that there is nothing wrong with watching the show have used 1 Cor. 6:12 All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.
However, "All things are lawful unto me"  was the argumentative slogan of some of the Corinthians who argued about the offense of the man who had his father's wife, as well as the eating of things offered to idols, which was not contrary to the law, as it then stood. Paul was instructing that just because the law, as it was then, allowed such; it did not mean that it was right.
All things, according to God's word, are not lawful!
Sin is not lawful!
"The wages of sin is death." Romans 6:23
Murder is not lawful!
Sorcery is not lawful!
Setting wickedness before your eyes is not lawful!
Loving that which is evil is not lawful!
Having the appearance of evil is not lawful!
Homosexuality is not lawful!
Fornication and sexual impurity is not lawful!
Stealing is not lawful!
Idolatry is not lawful!
Corrupt language is not lawful!
Pornography is not lawful!
Nor are any of these profitable! Duh!
Sorry for the sarcasm there, but it does not take a rocket scientist to comprehend God's Word!
Stop making excuses!
Born again Christians,  either you turn from your sin or you
wallowing in the mire!
"For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn away from the holy commandment handed on to them. It has happened to them according to the true proverb, "A dog returns to its own vomit," and, "A sow, after washing, returns to wallowing in the mire."2 Peter 2;22

The Bible warns that in the last days there will be many deceived by seducing spirits.(1Tim 4:1)
We wrestle against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.(Eph 6:12)
These principalities, spiritual wickedness, and powers of darkness are manifest in
The Walking Dead!
People are singing the praises of The Walking Dead.
It is being exalted and lifted up.
It's time to lift up Jesus!
I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonders. I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High. Psalm 9:1-2
I will extol the LORD at all times; his praise will always be on my lips.Psalm 34:1

It's time to bring the praise back to God and repent of glorifying wickedness!

...and the light of a lamp will not shine in you any longer; ... because all the nations were deceived by your sorcery. Rev 18:23
An extra note:
Did you know that Fox has plans to air a new television series called "Lucifer" in 2016. The program "mischaracterizes" Satan and "mocks the Bible.
Satan is working overtime in these last days!
Christians need to be raising a ruckus against these shows instead of tuning in to them!
Personally, I have not had cable or satellite television for years.  If you pay for these services, then your giving financial support to the devil!

  1. Such a good and timely word! Thank you for not posting the pictures from this show on your blog, and thank you for standing up and proclaiming truth!

    1. I appreciate your supportive comment. It feel so good to know that a few people are standing up as well.
      God bless.

    2. I shared this post with friends by copying and pasting. I hope that was alright. My niece really likes THE WALKING DEAD, and I have been concerned about it for sometime.

  2. Amen! I am one of those few teenagers (I'm 17) who do not like these kinds of movies. Thank you for standing up and 'raising a ruckus'. Abi.

    1. Bless your heart! I am so glad to hear a comment like this from such a young person. Keep standing firm. God bless you.

  3. If our hearts are so heavily-burdened over such evil, just imagine how broken our dear Father's heart must be! We don't have television in our home, and I am totally appalled to read such as this, as I don't see TV enough to really know or realize how awful things have become. It just flabbergasts me to know that professing Christians would even consider partaking of such wicked debauchery. How can they justify this, in light of the many Scriptures you have shared? And then we wonder why things are like they the church and in our nation. God will have the last word and will judge this unGodly generation, and then all will know that His Word is the only true authority and what we will have to measure up to as we stand there...alone before Him. What a sobering thought! Thank you for crying out against wrong. Stay strong, and keep preaching the truth, Chris. Love and appreciate you SO much!

    1. Thanks Cheryl. It's been a long time since we've had tv hooked up in out house too. We watch selected movies. When I returned to work for that brief time, a lot of people I worked with were captivated with the show. I also found out a whole lot more about it while I had facebook. It was everywhere on there. So many of the church and leaders were continuously posting about the show. I'm like you, I am flabbergasted too. As my young friend commented above, I am going to keep standing up and 'raising a ruckus'!
I love and appreciate you so much as well!

  4. Thank you for your post. I have friends who are believers, followers, of Jesus yet they can't wait for the Walking Dead series to begin. I had no idea what it even was (aside from the obvious name) or how deep the roots of evil. Thanks for the insight. I will keep this page bookmarked to show those who feel I'm "over reacting" as a believer in Jesus.
